Turnkey Intelligent Lighting Solution For A London Hospital

LED lighting project

We delivered an end-to-end LED lighting solution for Evelina London Children’s Hospital, who required a full upgrade across seven floors of clinical, operational and public areas. Their objectives were to reduce energy consumption, cut maintenance burden, simplify emergency lighting compliance and install a future-ready system capable of adapting to changing hospital demands.

We delivered the project via the ProcurePlus framework and we acted as principal contractor.

Our Turnkey Approach

We provided a fully managed solution covering:

This single-source model reduced complexity for the Trust and ensured full accountability from concept through to completion.

Procurement Framework Ready

Using the ProcurePlus framework enabled the Trust to:

  • Access a compliant procurement route

  • Accelerate project mobilisation

  • Ensure transparent cost control

  • Maintain full governance alignment

This procurement method reduced administration and allowed everybody’s focus to remain on delivery and performance outcomes rather than tender management.

Logistics in a Live Hospital Environment

The installation was delivered over an 11-month rolling programme across wards, theatres, consultation rooms, corridors and public spaces.

Because we were working in a live paediatric hospital, we needed to provide:

  • Detailed RAMS for each phase

  • Floor-by-floor scheduling to minimise disruption

  • Careful coordination with estates and clinical teams

  • Provision of skips and secure lamp coffins for safe disposal

  • Strict infection control adherence

This phased delivery ensured there was no interruption to critical healthcare services while maintaining programme momentum.

<h4″>An Intelligent Lighting Solution

The upgrade incorporated high-performance luminaires alongside bespoke retrofit solutions. We integrated wireless control which enabled:

  • Zoned dimming control

  • Adaptive lighting functionality

  • Integrated emergency monitoring

  • Automated emergency testing

  • Centralised reporting

This significantly reduced manual compliance checks and improved visibility across the entire estate.

Measurable Outcomes

The project delivered substantial financial and environmental gains:

  • Year 1 electricity savings: 80%

  • Year 1 carbon reduction: 239.97 tonnes CO₂

  • Return on investment: 3.75 years

The result is a future-ready lighting infrastructure that supports estates management, simplifies compliance and delivers long-term operational savings.
