Supporting Long-Term Performance for a Social Housing Solar Portfolio

We were appointed to deliver a large-scale solar asset upgrade programme across 300 residential properties owned by Stockport Homes and managed by We are Three Sixty. The project focused on replacing ageing solar PV inverters and meters, upgrading associated components, and improving long-term reliability and warranty cover for the portfolio.

The works were delivered within occupied homes, requiring tenant coordination, structured surveying and consistent quality control across a high volume of individual properties.

Scope of Works

The programme involved the supply and installation of new solar PV inverters and generation meters at each property, alongside the replacement of original fireboard panels and associated electrical components where required. The upgraded equipment increased system reliability and extended manufacturer warranty coverage from 5 years to 10 years, providing Stockport Homes with improved long-term asset protection.

Following installation, a structured post-install mop-up process was completed to address minor remedial works, documentation updates and final checks, ensuring consistency across the portfolio.

Tenant Engagement and Survey Process

Given the occupied nature of the properties, tenant communication was a critical element of delivery. We managed the full engagement process, including:

  • Direct tenant contact to arrange initial meetings and surveys

  • Pre-install letters explaining the scope of works and timelines

  • Follow-up phone calls to confirm appointments

  • Individual surveys completed at every property

This approach ensured clear communication, high access success rates and minimal disruption to residents.

Delivery at Scale

Managing works across 300 separate homes required a structured, repeatable delivery model. Surveys, installations and follow-up works were planned in coordinated batches, allowing progress to be monitored closely while maintaining flexibility around tenant availability.

All works were carried out safely, with consistent installation standards applied across the programme. Quality checks and documentation were completed throughout to provide Stockport Homes with a clear record of upgraded assets.

Outcome

The project successfully upgraded the solar PV infrastructure across all 300 properties, extending system life, improving reliability and reducing future maintenance risk. By combining technical delivery with strong tenant engagement, we ensured the programme was completed efficiently, safely and with minimal disruption.
