Solarcrown Commercial was appointed by Leaap Solutions to deliver a comprehensive solar PV reinstallation project at Queens Gardens, Stockport. The task involved the removal of legacy PV systems and the design, supply, and installation of new grid-connected solar PV systems with integrated electrical appliances across six residential buildings. Our team managed the full process end-to-end, from initial surveys and system design through to decommissioning, installation, and resident handover.
Each building was equipped with a 1.31 kWp PV generator spread over 5.9 m², consisting of three high-efficiency PV modules and a single inverter. The expected annual yield per building was 1,011 kWh, with approximately 46.8% of the energy used on-site, reducing grid reliance and supporting self-sufficiency. Each system is forecast to offset 218 kg of CO₂ annually. A performance ratio of 69.3% was achieved, even with a 21.8% yield reduction due to shading.
To support residents, we developed a clear and accessible Quick Reference Guide. This included an overview of system components, basic operation, troubleshooting advice, and maintenance responsibilities, ensuring long-term understanding and engagement. All installations were completed to MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) standards, ensuring the highest level of quality and compliance.
The installation package came with robust warranties: 25 years for PV output performance, 10 years for inverters and mounting systems, and a 12-month defect liability period from Solarcrown covering workmanship and labour.
