LED lighting installations
The installation of LED lighting in a commercial property reaps financial rewards, reduces energy consumption and enhances a company’s green credentials.
Solarcrown Commercial is an LED lighting consultancy. We install LED lighting into warehouses, industrial and local authority buildings, car parks, hospitality venues, new build housing, social housing, offices, retail outlets and a variety of outdoor spaces.
LED lighting is now the preferred choice of lighting system for both retrofit and new build projects, but some companies are put off by the potential disruption that a new LED lighting installation can cause. To combat this, we can carry out installations out of hours to avoid closing buildings or halting production.
Of course, you’ll need to know that we have the necessary expertise, accreditations and safety endorsements to be your trusted LED lighting consultants. Our team of fully qualified electrical engineers are NICEIC (National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting) accredited, so all installations are carried out to current wiring standards and safety legislation.

Why install LED lighting in your commercial property?
- Lighting is the single largest use of electricity in the commercial buildings of UK businesses. LED lighting systems are energy efficient and cheaper to run than systems that use traditional incandescent bulbs. In fact, LED bulbs use 90% less energy than their incandescent counterparts.
- When it comes to sufficiently illuminating a commercial premises, ageing non-LED lighting systems may no longer produce adequate light for the needs of the business and its work conditions
- Before committing to an LED light installation, you can benefit from a free lighting survey and energy report
- LED lighting provides a uniform feel to a commercial space that makes it more welcoming to workers and visitors
- Security lighting needs to be of a high enough standard to provide the necessary illuminance
- LED technology lasts much longer than traditional fluorescent tube lighting and incurs lower replacement and maintenance costs
- The longer warranty period assigned to LED lighting futureproofs the investment
- Green energy benefits from a range of business tax incentives.
Why should your LED lighting system be regularly maintained?
Although LED lighting systems are lower maintenance than traditional lighting, they must be thoroughly tested and inspected regularly. Well maintained lighting aids better performance and productivity.
- Regular maintenance ensures that commercial LED lighting systems are using the current components, and are operating at the expected levels of performance and cost efficiency
- Maintained LED lighting systems minimise lighting outages, business downtime and the potential for accidents and injury
- By paying attention to wattages, lighting effects and lighting levels, you will achieve consistency throughout your commercial building
- Based on your LED lighting systems and the needs of the business, we can create a bespoke maintenance plan. Planned lighting maintenance avoids ad-hoc repairs and associated costs
- Maintenance of LED lighting systems includes:
- Locating any bulbs that are burnt out or loose, and checking if there are any ballast (the device used to limit the amount of current in an electrical circuit), wiring or electrical problems
- Wiping down lenses, diffusers and housing exteriors to avoid failures
- Checking the performance of ballasts, drivers and transformers
- Checking dimming pre-sets to ensure optimum performance
- The monitoring of compliance with electrical and emergency lighting regulations
- Testing technology such as energy-saving lighting controls, extensive wiring and PIR (passive infrared) motion sensors.

LED lighting design
When it comes to LED lighting design, it’s all about you.
Before beginning any LED lighting system drawings, the Solarcrown consultants will find out everything we need to know about your business, your building, your ideal work conditions, the times of day you operate, busy and quiet areas and other elements of your operation that will affect the designs we present.
LED lighting design for large commercial buildings
In larger commercial buildings such as warehouses, factories, large retail units and industrial buildings LED lighting design needs to be versatile in how it illuminates different areas.
- High bay LED lighting is used to light up spaces with ceilings higher than 20ft from the floor, often warehouses and factories. Our high bay lighting designs use optics and reflectors to distribute light equally across the floor where it is needed, rather than wastefully directing it to unnecessary areas.
- Low bay lighting is used in commercial buildings with a ceiling height of under 20ft. For low bay lighting we use different types of lamps, reflectors and optics to those used in high bay lighting. We typically provide low bay lighting designs for retail spaces and public buildings.
- In warehouse LED lighting design, we often locate LED lights on vertical surfaces to make the reading of labels and cherry-picking easier.
