Solarcrown Commercial were appointed via Architectural Services – Bury Council to upgrade all of the outdated traditional lighting at Bradley Fold
Depot to energy efficient LED Lighting.
Solarcrown Commercial worked as both Principal Designer and Contractor to install new LED lighting to the transport offices, high level and low level stores, vehicle workshop and gritting shed zones requiring specific lighting requirements.
The lighting within the offices and low level areas were replaced on a like for like basis, the high level lighting included a full redesign with supply and install of new containment and wiring under the Reallies framework for procure plus.
The emergency lighting system was also upgraded to meet BS5266 as the current emergency lighting system was non compliant.
LED lighting installations were carried out in the following areas:
Vehicle Workshop and Gritting Stores
400W Metal Halide High Bays were replaced with 40 x 150W LED High Bay 90º Reflectors. New high level containment and wiring were introduced as the existing was deemed inadequate due to its age and condition. The switching zones were split up so that switching could be zoned in each area so that areas can be shut down when unoccupied. Emergency lighting has been introduced into the lighting scheme to give illumination of the general area and also escape route lighting via exit
signage and external bulkheads.
Central Store and Mezzanine Area
The low level lighting below the mezzanine floor has been replaced on a like for like basis, where necessary additional emergency light fittings have been introduced, the high level areas have a mixture of 150W LED High Bay fittings at full height areas, and then above the mezzanine floor 100W LED High Bays have been installed to further reduce energy consumption. Again, emergency lighting has been introduced into the lighting scheme to give illumination of the general area and also escape route lighting via exit signage and external bulkheads.
Male and Female Toilet Facilities
12W 2D IP54 LED Windsor Bulkhead lighting as well as 29W 1500mm LED Surface Mounted Anti-Corrosive Strip lighting were installed into all toilet facilities within the depot. The lighting is resistant to conditions within the toilet and shower facilities while also being more energy efficient than the traditional 28W 2D Bulkhead and 58W T8 Weatherproof NCF Lighting previously installed. The installation was completed with a 5 week installation programme with a small 2 man installation team on site keeping the full depot operational, working closely with the building managers and the staff to ensure minimal disruption whilst abiding to all health and safety and site specific procedures.

Offices and Conference Rooms
Solarcrown Commercial upgraded the lighting in office and conference room areas with a range of energy efficient 40W 1500mm LED Surface Mounted Cat 2 Strip Fitting replacing conventional 2 x 58W T8 Surface Cat 2 Fittings. The Transport office and MOT Waiting Area are equipped with 27W 600 x 600 LED Panels replacing the 3 x 36W T8 Recessed Modular 600 x 1200 fittings and the 4 x 18W Recessed Modular 600 x 600 fittings.
